    APLU is thrilled to celebrate Black History Month with a panel of experts from HBCUs and the White House’s Office of Science, Technology and Policy exploring the pivotal role of HBCUs in advancing student success and tackling challenges through pathbreaking research. The panel will also explore how to support HBCUs as they work to increase research capacity, expand partnerships with other institutions, and grow African American science talent.

APLU launches the Powered by Publics initiative. This effort is convening 130 public universities and systems to collectively develop and scale innovative solutions to increase degree completion and close the achievement gap nationwide.

Focused on increasing degree completion and academic success, advancing scientific research, and expanding engagement, APLU undertakes a wide array of projects and initiatives along with its members while providing a forum for public higher education leaders to work collaboratively to better meet the challenges and opportunities facing public universities.

Legislative Highlight

The Pell Grant is a proven program that has been the foundation of federal student aid for decades, opening the doors of college and opportunity to low- and moderate-income students. APLU joins the higher education community in requesting doubling the maximum annual Pell Grant award to help more students earn a degree, get a good-paying job, and ensure them greater economic mobility and a brighter future.
